Brock Fleming was a super adorable, 7 year old, who had a warm smile, was very caring, and always laughing. He was happiest when he was building Legos with Mommy, wrestling with Daddy, swimming with his big sister, Jenna, watching Jurassic Park and Jaws with family, or playing soccer with friends. He was a proud member of the Boy Scouts and given the Spirit of the Eagle award. Of all his titles, his favorite was being Mommy's silly little “monkey.”
On May 4, 2016, Brock was walking his dog with Jenna and his Daddy when he tripped, fell, and hit his forehead. His parents thought they would be treating him for a concussion, and instead were told he had an inoperable brain tumor with only 9 months to live.
Brock was diagnosed with a very aggressive brain stem tumor called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma
(DIPG). Because of its location, this Monster is difficult to treat and inoperable. At diagnosis, children are given 6-9 months to live and told to go home and enjoy the time they have left. There is NO CURE. Treatment options are limited, minimally successful, and very expensive.
During his battle, Brock didn't understand why his body was doing this to him, why he was the only second grader with cancer in his head, and why the Doctors couldn't fix him. He never complained and wanted to "Kick Cancer in the Nuts!"
Team Brock's mission is to change this for other kids! Through biannual charity events, we raise money to fund pediatric brain cancer research and trials. Together, we WILL find The Cure!
